I have been involved with Ridgebacks since 1986. My first dog was Ch Globe Casino's Shaka Mzazi, TT. He had two litters in South Africa and is believed to be the first Ridgeback to be bred back into S. Africa. My foundation bitch is That's Why She Is Wish Come True, "Meena", whom I imported from The Netherlands. My kennel name "Mzazi" means "the proud", which I added to Shaka's name because he was very proud and composed. I have been a member of RRCUS since 1986. My puppies are born and raised in my home and dogs used in my breeding program all have hip, elbow, thyroid, heart, eye and DM screens. The dogs are a hobby, which I take seriously. I don't breed often, but when I do my goal is high quality not quantity.

Our Foundation

My line is based upon the That's Why Kennels of Drs. W.E. Ressang-Groenewegen of The Netherlands, who first became involved with Ridgebacks in 1971. I imported "Meena", That's Why She Is Wish Come True, to the U.S. in 1998. The That's Why Kennels are founded on the South African "Glenaholm" line and the Zimbabwian "Mpani" line. Drs. Ressang, a good friend, has retired from breeding and my aim is to carry on her goals of improving the breed's health and conformation while at the same time preserving the characteristics of a "true" Ridgeback.
